"In 1997, the Legislative leaders concocted a scheme to "adjourn" the Legislature immediately after convening to consider an amendment; in other words allowing a majority of the Legislature to thwart the will of the requisite 25%. The Supreme Judicial Court okayed this move, and the Boston Globe ran cover for them."

Sounds like you good people of Mass. need to take the government back from your legislators and courts.

I had high hopes for this year. Mitt Romney ran a slate of Republicans in most districts. Sadly, that's a real accomplishment here.

But with Kerry at the top of the ticket, Republicans actually lost seats. That's pathetic, like the Democrats in Utah or Idaho losing seats. The Democrats have the largest majority any party has had in the State House since something like the 1850s when the chief party was the Know-Nothings. The Republican Party can't get much deader in the Bay State.
