The director of Sacha Baron Cohens new film has reportedly quit after a run-in with the comic.
The row is thought to have been sparked after the Ali G creator nearly sparked a riot at a rodeo earlier this month.
Salem Va was the WRONG place to pull that stunt. The area VA Hospital is there. It's there because there are a lot of vets in the area.
HBO's response to my emailed complaint:
Dear Subscriber:
Thank you for writing to Home Box Office regarding Sacha Baron Cohen's appearance at a rodeo in Virginia. While we understand your feelings on the matter, please understand that Mr. Cohen's appearance had nothing to do with HBO.
To be clear, the HBO series Da Ali G Show, which stars Mr. Cohen, has been on hiatus for several months. The incident at the rodeo had nothing to do with HBO or with Da Ali G Show, but was, as we understand it, connected to a feature film currently in production starring Mr. Cohen as one of the characters he portrays on Da Ali G Show. HBO is not affiliated with this film production in any way.
We hope this clarifies the matter, and appreciate your taking the time to send your comments to us.
Cordially yours,
Sincerely,
Francine Thompson
