Do you think that every person with a Dr. in front of their name is an MD? Maybe since I have 2 Drs in my family who are not MDs I usually don't make that assumption. She does have a post-doctoral certification in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA. She does add a disclaimer on her show at times to remind people that she is not a medical doctor.
Personally, to dispense the advice (and that's what she is...an advisor)she gives requires no degree. Just life lessons and common sense with some morality thrown in. My mom could do it too. Yes, I know her past, but that's the past.
