Good from what I've heard. No real confrontational thing yet I think.
Funny, earlier in the hearing Dems pointed out our lack of response to Putin's efforts to undermine democracy. Now Dodd is talking about a relationship with Chavez who, besides winning under the most suspicious of circumstances, is attacking personal property ownership, free speech, free press, etc.?
"LOL -- neither PS nor any other damn dirty 'Rat is chair of ANY committee in Washington except the party caucuses."
huh...huh...oh yeah...
Ugh, I just walked in the door to hear dodd pontificating. I was immediately talking back to him!
Chavez is a real problem.
Next she addresses Central America. Notes the stratification that exists in much of that area and the struggles of indigenous peoples to find their rightful place and live decently.
Trade can play a huge part to help here.
Now speaking of S. America, Brazil in particular.
I wonder if any of them will ask Condi about President Bush refusing to take phone calls w/Spain's newly elected "leader"?
Right, Chavez wants a relationship with the US, an adversarial one.
"Funny, earlier in the hearing Dems pointed out our lack of response to Putin's efforts to undermine democracy. Just your typical Dem Paradox...the dems are soooo transparent!
By the time Dr Rice finishes her answers the 'esteemed' senators have no coherent comeback. She shows them up bigtime in comparison of intellectual prowess.
Comfortable, confident. Speaking clearly, she is well prepared.
None of the 'Rats have attacked her *yet*.
Holding leaders accountable who do not govern democratically.
Dodd was disappointed with the "paristy", corrects to "paucity" of her remarks in her opening statement to this area but she has answered him.
Asks about agreements---sooner rather than later?
Rice: We will work with Congress but would like sooner rather than later.
Dodd lauds the state dept people they met in other countries and Dodd emphasizes we must work more in this area of the world.
Rice returns to Venezuela and they have not been cooperative and causing troubles for their neighbors, relationship with Cuba troublesome and concerning. Governing in an illiberal way.
She SAYS lots of things, but the Administration's actions say them more clearly.
You disagree with their efforts in that area, but to say they disregard that issue or do nothing is a blatant lie.
Who ever said they "do nothing"???
As far as I'm concerned, these global plutocrats are PRO-ACTIVELY eradicating our borders.
With the goal of undermining the economic prosperity of the American Middle Class, they encourage increased immigration, both legal and illegal. And while our domestic industries remain shackled by excessive regulation and litigation, they encourage the demise of our industrial infrastructure by undermining our industries with imported goods. That's why they're referred to as "free traitors".
Dodd says he appreciates her comments but says it's a two-way street and just repeating historical notes only serves to dig the hole deeper without making progress.
Dodd done and Lugar congratulates him and Chaffee and Nelson on their recent trip.
Sen. Allen up.
Go Condi! She's taking Chavez and his actions head-on! Points out the concerns we have with the behavior, his actions with Castro, threats to his neighbors.
Dodd reiterates we have to be diplomatic. (talk ourselves to death with Chavez of course)
Is he moving? It could be just a cardboard thing.
I see John Effin! Dodd is a petulant little punk.
I must be living in an alternate universe. I don't think I've heard the words terrorist, jihadist, Islamic extremist, or war on terror in a good hour.
Have these members forgotten the most pressing national security issues of our time?
Sheesh, do these people ever stay on topic? No wonder they can't get anything done.
the committee is going to let the "real" president, Jean F'n handle those issues.
