What a cool idea.....isolate the leftist whackjobs! I think this approach could also work for SF, Seattle, Portland, and other blue state strongholds!

It's an idiotic idea on a par with giving DC statehood. Think two more left of Castro Senators. Now if they were to withdraw from the US altogether that would be cause to rejoice.

Think about the relief and advances in freedom those states could see, without the constant overweening dominance of the Left. They would actually have representation! Imagine a WA State that could seat a state supreme court that had members from all over the state, instead of just a small sliver of the western part of the state. Imagine the strengthened hand of the CA governor not hampered by the nannystate self-interest of SF. All the while, the Governor, etc. of City-State would be taxing their residents to death....causing them to flee outside their borders for relief.

I guess I'm looking at this from a closer-to-the-people perspective. I suppose I should take into account that we've become completely federal-focused. My bad.

Think this through. Unlike DC where you get two new lib Senators, NYC would have two libs, like NY State already has, but upstate would be likely to give us two far more moderate ones. The gain is whatever you would get upstate.
