It has prompted a faculty member in the medical school, not at all directly involved, to send an e-mail message to an implicated professor that he is a "pathetic typical Arab liar" and should leave the country. There have been death threats. Students have been labeled as "ignorant" and "liars" by teachers.

Oh, geepers.... Sounds like these guys need some "tolerance training." He, he.

The second transpired at a small lecture off campus at which Tomy Schoenfeld, a student who had served in the Israeli Army, says that when he tried to question Prof. Joseph Massad, the professor first asked him, "How many Palestinians have you killed?"
To which Tomy responded, "Apparently not enough".

"To me, these are dark ages," he said. "This is not the United States I moved into in 1976. I don't recognize it. I'm in sort of moral shock."

May I suggest that you ask yourself why the world hates you?

When you cut a check for tuition, you are paying the school to be taught a very specific SUBJECT, be it Calculus, Physics, Psychology, or Basket Weaving.

Now, I have no problem with Academic freedom, but just as disrobing and copulating in a class of physics students in inappropriate, so is discourse on Middle East politics in any course not specifically covering Middle East politics.

If a teacher finds it necessary to preach off topic; I would humbly suggest that the teacher cut a check to each and every student as a partial refund for his time. The student paid to learn the subject material, not his teacher's political viewpoint.

Just wait until the universities begin to fill up with returning combat vets....

The liberal Academic Crowd have been hiding behind Ivy covered walls, launching bombs of Ignorance, Bias & Arrogance for far too long, AND using their tenure as a shield. The "old guard" mainstream media always gave them a pass.
NOW, the NEW MEDIA is on the warpath, shedding light and exposing entrenched Liberalism, pointing fingers & naming names. The wind of change is in the air.

It's time we turned the light of truth on Academia, let's See how they like the "Media Rectal Exam" they are so use to supporting. ONLY now, the GLOVE is on the OTHER HAND !

As one professor blithely put it, "This is blood sport for me, and I love it."

Learned, but not very wise. I guess they'll have to learn the hard way, when this ends badly.

(Many Columbia professors are worried foremost about the implications for academic freedom.)

Bouhouhou! Poor professors! They would have a point if they let in conservative professors. But since they barely ever do, then things like this will continue to happen.

My daughter a 4.0 student (unlike her jagoff father), initially wanted to go to Columbia. After visiting she decided not to even apply there (relief). Thankfully, she's visiting the USNA this weekend.

Actually, the article leaves out the most inflammatory aspect of that exchange: According to reports, the student said that he would not discuss his military activities, and the professor said that he would not answer any questions put by this ex-soldier until he announced how many Palestinian Arabs he had killed.

The venerable and protected Jewish minorities meet the not so venerable but still protected Islamic minorities. Oil and water, or more like gunpowder and matches.

Political Correctness is so much fun to watch when it gets into a fight with itself.

The panel is a joke, run by 3 people who should be investigated!
The situation is so bad that the university was condemned by the New Republic!
