Notice the statement about "party insiders".

Just who are these party insiders?

If we knew who they were, we would know who picked Kerry in the first place.

And, we would know who is really trying to run the show.

So? How much name recognition did Bill Clinton have in 1989?

Not a lot. And then he managed to get his name out there, and find backers, and sell his message and get the nomination, like I just said I hope one of the conservatives do.

Pepperoni rocks but it will never be president.

"Kerry has been reaching out very aggressively and finding that many of the people that he automatically thought would be on board are not,

Uh dolt - even the folks who supported you didn't like you, they just liked Bush less.

Go ahead dems, nominate him again. We'll put up George Allen and see what happens. :-)

You don't honestly believe "conventional wisdom" concerning how things usually happens in the real world applies to the situation the Democrats are in right now, do you?

I really do not see him as ever being relevant again. A good portion of his base has abandoned him, there is no "Anyone But Bush" anymore to pad the numbers for him. He was defeated soundly and no one was really very excited about him anyway. If he tries to be like Gore and go off on rants he will just look silly. He is too cold and calculating for something like that to work for him. Some Democrat will emerge, but Kerry's wings have been clipped.

Heck, no; he has said some dreadful things about George W. Bush; I will never, ever forgive that!

Besides, Clinton and Gore are the kiss of death to every candidate they've ever endorsed.

Right now, there is nobody who is really knocking my socks off as both a conservative and electable candidate.

I think the Edwards angle has some merit. When you think exponentially by 2008 there might just be enough trial lawyers for him to win the election!

Tommy Thompson? Previous Governor of Wisconsin (four terms!) staunch Republican. Excellent reformer. Personable, with a wonderful wife, who may be a problem; she hates politics and is a teacher, so is a tad liberal. Was pulled away from us by President Bush to be HSS Secretary, but he's not a "Small Fish in a Big Pond" kind of guy. He wants to be a "Big Fish in a Big Pond" kind of guy.

He's got three or so years to feel things out. Knowing him, he'll tire of the private sector within a few years. Don't rule him out. I'd vote for him in a heartbeat for President! He's truly a "Compassionate Conservative."

http://www.hhs.gov/about/bios/dhhssec.html

"Secretary Thompson has dedicated his professional life to public service, most recently serving as governor of Wisconsin since 1987. Secretary Thompson made state history when he was re-elected to office for a third term in 1994 and a fourth term in 1998.

During his 14 years as governor, Secretary Thompson focused on revitalizing Wisconsin's economy. He also gained national attention for his leadership on welfare reform, expanded access to health care for low-income people, and education.

In 1996, Secretary Thompson enacted Wisconsin Works, or "W-2," the state's landmark welfare-to-work legislation, which served as a national model for welfare reform. The program required participants to work, while at the same time providing the services and support to make the transition to work feasible and permanent. W-2 provided a safety net through child care, health care, transportation and training assistance. Wisconsin's monthly welfare caseload declined by more than 90 percent, while the economic status of those taking part in W-2 improved. The average family on AFDC had been 30 percent below the federal poverty line. However, at the average wage of people leaving W-2, families were 30 percent above the poverty line."

ROFL. That is about the funniest picture I have ever seen.

KERRY: Honest, judge, I simply did NOT see the bus coming when I accidentally shoved Terayzuh into the street.

That pic deserves it's own "CAPTION THIS PICTURE" post.

Here's another nominee: "I got your back, hun."

Or..."KERRY PLANS ANOTHER RUN AFTER GETTING RID OF 2004 TROUBLES".

I hope one of the others finds a way soon to get out in front of the American people with a solid message and a groundswell of support. The idea that I might have to vote for the likes of Guiliani, McCain or Pataki is nothing short of horrific.
______________________________________________________

Don't worry too much about Guliani, his skeltons are prob. worse than Brenard Kerik. There was something VERY fishy about Rudy dropping out of the '00 Senate race against Hillary, something more than minor prostate surgery and his nutty soon-to-be-ex wife.
Pataki is and always has been an empty suit, a vapid, spineless, inept dolt, who has of late done everything except actually pull a Jeffords and switch party affilation. NY ranks dead last in economic freedom, its state (RINO) GOP is in shambles, and all Pataki can do is ban smoking, make worthless taxpayer-funded TV ads with his face plastered all over them, and try to solve every problem by propsoing more NY State gambling- OTB, scratch-offs, bingo, barroom slot-machines, etc. This guy is a morally bankrupt stooge who makes even Kerry seem decisive.
McCain will be an even older old fart in 08 than he is now, and I think he has had some serious health probelms already. BY 08 he will simnply be, or at least seem to be, too old to handle the job.

That's my take on the Three Stooges.

I hadn't heard that about Reeve's widow. I doubt her wealth is anything like Suha's. Anyway Suha may already be committed to supporting Hillary in 2008.

If Kerry runs, will Edwards not, or will they oppose each other for the nomination? Previous VP candidates like Bob Dole and Joe Lieberman said they would not run for president if their former running mates were to get into the race. I'll bet Edwards wouldnt let Kerry stop him. If Edwards does run, with Hillary in the picture or not, I suspect he will get nowhere.

How time flies. It was a year ago, on the night of the MLK holiday, that Kerry won the Iowa caucus and he was on his way to the nomination.

Now that there will be no W. to run against he has to run on his own merits and he has none.

One of the most cogent points I've seen in a long time!
