Rather's Ted Baxter defense is a joke...."I only read what's put in front of me...I don't understand it."

I need some help.

I've tried to find out if the law firm that Thornburg is associated with (Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Nicholson Graham), he is listed "of council" and not a partner, is one of the law firms that CBS uses.

According to the law firm's profile, it specializes in providing legal advice to TV and Radio Networks.

If K&LNG is one of CBS's law firms, CBS hiring KLNG to do an "independent" investigation of the "60 Minutes" Report on Bush's TxANG activity is reminicent of Enron hiring its law firm, Vinson & Elkins, to do an "independent" investigation of Sharron Watkins' famous memo to Ken Lay that Enron's accounting treatment and public disclosure of certain activity were inappropriate.

As we all now know, the V & E "Independent" Report on Watkin's Memo concluded that Enron did not need to pursue the issue further, but the Justice Department's subsequent investigation led to numerous guilty pleas.

I'm sure V & E and possibly K&LNG were cognizant of the fact that it they torpedoed and sunk one of their largest clients it would not be very good for future business.

I believe that the only way to get to the truth regarding the "60 Minutes" Program is if the Justice Department investigates or one of the individuals libeled by the "60 Minutes" Program or subsequent statements by CBS or its executives files a civil suit.
