The source of this story is Planet Save.com , not Researchers at the John Radcliffe Institute of Molecular Medicine as posted. One probably has credibility, the other calls themselves "Planet Save" I agree. I believe the entity they are referring to is actually titled The Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine at the University of Oxford, John Radcliffe Hospital, Headington, Oxford OX3 9DS. URL is www.imm.ox.ac.uk but it doesn't respond for me.

Thanks for the full name. Googling that and the word Neanderthal yields this page from their Oxford news letter:
