"Q: I'm curious as to what kind of responses you have been getting. Do you use curse words at them?
A: I made an Indian woman cry and promise to quit her job in 60 seconds. You can do it too!"
MUMBAI: This is only a random (and printable) selection from the thousands of messages in cyberspace calling for a campaign to harass Indian call centre operators, to put an end to the offshoring of jobs.
The same person goes on to describe some more of his experiences while calling these call centres, an activity to which he promises to devote "one hour every day".
"Actually the usual response is confusion...I get the impression these are not the brightest bulbs in India's chandeliers. Often, they give me a 'courtesy laugh' as if I were joking and ask how they can help me.
Usually, I limit the calls to 60 seconds anyway, so I can call back and really hammer them. I've been doing this about 20 minutes a day. It's great fun!" The person goes on to give the names and numbers of some popular MNCs with Indian call centres.
In the last few months, and particularly since the US presidential elections, people working in call centres in the country say that they are receiving more abusive and racist phone calls than ever before.
"Earlier, people would get abusive if we didn't answer their questions satisfactorily. Now, I get callson some days up to five a shiftfrom people who are calling only to abuse," says Shalini J, a 22-year-old engineering graduate who works in a major call centre in Malad.

But calling these people up and harassing them just because they're in India is a DU-like, in my opinion.
"Outsourcing" jobs is not necessarily a bad thing, either.
That's like going from calling someone a 'n***ger' to calling them 'n***ger lover'. Total non-sequitor, anyway. You're no credit to this forum. FCS, the thread is about outsourcing and you're talking about perverse sexual practices. Whose got a problem??
FYI eno is one of FR's more psychotic gay-bashers. I bet he's a hoot offline too - "Would you like a drink with your order, sir?" - "What are you a homosexual?"
sj you said, 'We already have plenty of enemies in the world who hate us out of jealousy or for no reason at all. We don't need to give a very large nation a reason to hate us.'
Precisely. Like your tagline too.
Are you coming on to him?
FULL ON TROLL MODE.
What a ...ick
Are you a psychopath or what? How many pings on how many different threads are you going to give me?
I've decided that the language problem is serious between US and India. They speak perfectly good english. We speak perfectly good english. Only thing is, the dialects are so different that we can't understand each other. That's why Indian call centers aren't all that great.
Also, their educational systems seem to be geared toward read and regurgitate. They don't seem to handle independent thought well. And just because someone speaks unintelligibly doesn't mean they're smart.
Oh, come on. We don't hold the exclusive patent on a-holiness. If they want to work servicing Americans, they gotta take the good with the bad. If they want to do help desk support, they better have a thick skin. I'm not into all this ugly American talk. That's just a club they use to try to beat us into kissing their butts and doing what they want. NO MORE! Let them worry about what we think of THEM for a change.
This article is specifically about calling up people with the specific intent of harassing them. When you go out to a restaurant, do you treat the waiter or waitress this way? Do you mouth off to them before they bring you your food? Do you go to a restaurant specifically to harass the staff? For some reason, I doubt it because you know what will happen to your food. People who work in the service industry are not there to act as your psychiatrist to help you with your unresolved issues.
FYI garbanzo is a liar.
I invite everyone to peruse my posts. Gay marriage bores me more than baseball.
You'e got an ugly mouth.
What are you complaining about? You have to expect it if you want to participate on a public forum. Is that not a reasonable conclusion to your line of thinking? There is a word for people who set a standard for others but cry like a little girl when they get a very mild version.
How'd I know you would say something like that?
exactly. I call the call center and if the person and I have a problem communicating, I stop the call, return the product and send an email to the company stating why I returned the product.
I take it back about you being an effiminate, limp-wristed, swishy but straight person. Please accept my apologies. You must be latent.
