President and Mrs. Bush did not make any public appearances today as the prepare for this week's 2nd Inaugural. The President proclaimed Sunday as National Sanctity of Human Life Day and Religious Freedom Day.
Today's Presidential Radio Address dealt with the issue of Social Security. For those interseted in reading the entire transcript (it's not long), click here: whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2005/01/20050115.html
QUOTE OF THE DAY: When President Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act in 1935, the average life expectancy was about 60 years, which meant that most Americans would not live to become eligible for benefits, then set at age 65.
Today, most Americans enjoy longer lives and longer retirements. And that presents a looming challenge. Because Social Security was created as a pay-as-you-go system, current retirees are supported by the taxes paid by current workers. Unfortunately, the ratio of workers to retirees is falling steadily. In the 1950s, there were about 16 workers paying in for each person drawing out. Today, it's about three workers for every beneficiary. And by the time today's workers in their mid 20s begin to retire, there will be just over two.

I wouldn't put anything past the Associated Press, and they may very well have intended that he look shifty. Our Dubya has more facial expressions than I think I've ever seen in a President. In this one, I imagine he was listening closely to a question some reporter must have been asking, and was already disagreeing with the reporter's premise.
You can thank all those mothers who decided to murder their unborn babies because it cramped their lifestyle too much, and the lawmakers and activist judges who made the murder of live, unborn babies "legal" in the United States. They killed their babies, and now they have no one to support their retirement. This is called poetic justice. Let them work until they croak!!!
Thanks, I need all the help I can get!!
Sounds very soothing. I needed some soothing the last few days, sigh.
I doubt that he'd ever heard of the Red Sox either. What a phoney! Glad to be rid of him.
How are things with you, Snugs?
What a nasty little trick. I'm all settled in and watching the cute doggies (adorable beagle) and suddenly......Ron Reagan, IICCCKKK! Well, he is a dog. he he
I can only imagine that both GWB and RBC are experiencing the kind of comfort level that comes from knowing their places in history are assured. They never have to run for election again, and there must be a degree of freedom that comes with that knowledge.
LOL! I was wondering when someone was going to comment on GHWB's colorful costume.
LOL--what are you watching? The Sci-Fi Channel? (har-har-har!)
Why did he pull that absolutely idiotic stunt of making like Leonardo DiCaprio in Titanic. "I'm king of the world!!" Except Kerry was king of a river ferry.
And the press wants to call W's second term a "lame duck". Pfft. Not hardly.
I watched the toy group since I have pugs...the pug came in third.....I guess this is the only gig Ron can get...hehee
LOL! Just had to flip around with the stations and check the listings. Think I'll be safe with a George Strait movie?
ROFLMAO!!! (BTW, whatever happened to enforcing the laws that prevent American citizens from engaging in unauthorized foreign policy?)
Thanks! I'll find em...
Not as far as I'm concerned, it isn't. Too bad Rod Serling isn't around to send all the crazies to the Twilight Zone for a day.
Hey, who are we to question genius?
At least DiCaprio had the decency to go down with his ship.
he never stops, does he? he seems to think his input was important in 1970, too...
A few hrs. ago spoke to a relative of mine from
Hoboken, NJ but for many yrs. lived in Toms River, NJ
Now lives near Cinn. Oh She was talking about the cold
weather.
Yes, another great day in San Diego. High 60s and this
