Pelosi: 'Having Admitted Error of His Words, President Must Admit Error of His Ways'

WASHINGTON, Jan. 14 /U.S. Newswire/ -- House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today on remarks by President Bush in an interview with regional newspapers yesterday in which he said he regretted saying "bring 'em on" in reference to insurgents in Iraq who wanted to attack our troops:

"The President has finally acknowledged that his taunting the Iraqi insurgents by saying 'bring 'em on' has had unintended consequences, likely increasing the dangers faced by our troops in Iraq. Although unintended, the consequences of such remarks were all too predictable.

"It was also predictable that creating a chaotic security situation in Iraq would make the country what it was not before the war -- a 'magnet for terrorists,' a result recently confirmed by the National Intelligence Council.

"More than two years ago, senior military experts such as General Eric Shinseki warned against sending too small a force to Iraq, in part because they knew that any security vacuum created by the fall of Saddam Hussein would be filled by elements united only by the desire to kill Americans. One of the many mistakes of the Iraq war is that the President did not have a plan for preventing Iraq from becoming a hotbed for terrorists. We will be paying the price of that mistake for years to come.

"Having admitted the error of his words, the President must admit the error of his ways."

They started broaching the "i" word two years ago (at least). Tis elementary they'll move heaven and earth to find something to pursue that path.

They'll never be successful, though.

LOL

I agree! Bush regrets nothing. Nor should he.

He was ahead in the game

Huh?

He's no worse off than he was before and his supposed supporters would best support him rather than wail about what he should or shouldn't have said (and what he said was absolutely correct).

This isn't the most blatant, but you're right, that's what it is.

Like the "imminent threat" thing.

Actually, even though the author has embedded the campaign photo, I rather like all those losers captured in one post.

Pelosi must have missed this one:

Iraq has replaced Afghanistan as the training ground for the next generation of "professionalized" terrorists, according to a report released yesterday by the National Intelligence Council, the CIA director's think tank.

Iraq provides terrorists with "a training ground, a recruitment ground, the opportunity for enhancing technical skills," said David B. Low, the national intelligence officer for transnational threats. "There is even, under the best scenario, over time, the likelihood that some of the jihadists who are not killed there will, in a sense, go home, wherever home is, and will therefore disperse to various other countries."

Low's comments came during a rare briefing by the council on its new report on long-term global trends. It took a year to produce and includes the analysis of 1,000 U.S. and foreign experts. Within the 119-page report is an evaluation of Iraq's new role as a breeding ground for Islamic terrorists.

President Bush has frequently described the Iraq war as an integral part of U.S. efforts to combat terrorism. But the council's report suggests the conflict has also helped terrorists by creating a haven for them in the chaos of war.

What does Pelossi's view on abortion have anything to do with this thread? She, Feinstein, and Schumer are anti-gun. Soooo, what's the point?

...so I hope he's finished with the groveling show for Ba-wahh. They aren't going to like him any more for it and he only appears weak.

I am waiting for the worshippers of the Church of 'W' to declare that this is another great Karl Rove strategery.

You see. That's why he just shouldn't have said it. You give these people an inch and they want a yard. Give 'em a yard and they want a pool in it.

My advice. You don't win a Presidential election by 4 million votes, then turn around and squander your victory by: 1) Being Pro-Illegal Immigration 2) Giving interviews and saying your sorry for anything, and I MEAN anything!!
3) Not getting tough on these pantywaist crybaby Communists we call Democrats! We should be eating these a-holes alive!!

I wish the President had not said anything about it. I love the cowboy talk and his ratings always went up after he made those kind of statements.

This is just the inch the dems were looking for - now they're going try to make it go a mile.

The dems were desperate for GWB to admit to a mistake, any mistake, pre election. All they wanted was a stick to hit him with. President Bush, being no dummy saw right through that and wouldn;t give them the satisfaction no matter how desperate and childish they became.

Polosi is just trying to make hay out of it because she's like a child. If this is all they have they are worse off than we ever dreamed.

I think it took a lot of courage for him to say he regrets those few things. But I wish he wouldn't have done it. I really liked the way he stood up and said "Bring it on!" and etc. First President since Reagan that had the guts to be blunt. And the left doesn't need any more ammunition. "A bunch of yellow bellied sissies!"
