I guess they could still be there, but the scientific speculation was that it did not have a solid surface at all. With this revelation, maybe we've found a new source of beachfront property.

There was never any speculation that there was no solid surface on Titan. Perhaps you're getting it mixed up with Saturn itself? It was always known that Titan had a very cold, possibly rocky or icy solid surface. They had radar images of the terrain already.
