Yep...that's a fact....7.62 x 25mm Russian I believe the round is. Does a fair job of defeating threat level II body armor if I remember correctly.

I've seen that done in a test 30 years ago when vests were first becomming common, and that was with surplus ball ammo. With handloads it might punch a cat III vest.

By the way, this cartridge is the same as the 7.62 mauser pistol cartridge available in the Mauser 'Broomhandle' auto pistol since 1898.

Is this the same round the CZ 52 uses? I can't recall. I've fired a CZ 52 a few times, and the round is quite zippy.

Yep...We've handloaded rifle ammo just using "ball" projectiles, and were amazed at we were able to shoot through. If most people understood exactly what the .223 Rem and .308 NATO would penetrate, they might be a little more c-a-r-e-f-u-l!

We did work up a handload SPECIALLY for punching holes in blue U.N. kevlar helmets. Yuk..yuk..yuk... :-)

Modern (hot Czech) 7.62x25 should never be fired in older guns of same caliber i.e. Broomhandle - #'s are the same but pressure is way different
