Molson Inc. shares shot to their highest level in more than a year Friday after the brewer said it Adolph Coors Co. had sweetened the pot in their planned merger, winning the support of key investors. The move comes with shareholders scheduled to decide on the proposed $8-billion merger between Molson and Golden, Colo.-based Coors next Wednesday.

While Coors is only drinkable when it's 95 degrees outside and the beer temp is 33, I can't think of anytime when a Molson is worth buying.

I think there's a connection with the consumption levels of this poster:

It's all crap in my opinion, I'll drink a bud, but I prefer Sleeman's, a small micro brewery in Ont. that makes a great honey brown lager which is a real beer in comparison to that Molsons pee water.

If you're gonna drink a microbrew, Maritime's Imperial IPA is the cat's meow.

Ales just don't have the same boldness as a well brewed lager, unless you make them yourself and find a good source of hops. Ales are good in their own right though, especially the darker ones. That's my preference though, everyone has their own, which change. Thats the beauty of being a beer drinker. Those mass produced beers just can't be made as good as a small batch brewers.

I'll argue that the mass produced pilseners and lagers from central europe are far better than any microbrewery imitation.

No I won't. Now, not only will I continue my boycott of Canuckistan beer, I'll stop buying Coors.

I don't know if you can say "better," but that's really the kind of beer I prefer. I find most microbrews to be far to heavy a drink, even the ones that aren't supposed to be.

There are some great European beers though. Zywiec is a good Polish brew, and Duvel is a big headed Belgian brew that's 8.5% alc. but drinks like a regular beer. Both can be found in American liquor stores that carry good selections of beer.

'Molsen' is to 'beer' as 'Canada' is to just about anything.

I'm not terribly fond of Coors, but Molson Golden and Canadian are quite good beers if you like a lot of hops. Not up to Beck's, but pretty darn good.

Well, I've never turned down any beer when offered. But when I have my druthers, I drink Guiness Stout, any English Bitter, any German or Chech Pilsener, or a good US micro IPA. Cheers
