Kansas Abortion Clinic Used by Canadian Government Sends Botched Abortion Victim to Hospital

WICHITA, Kansas, January 13, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) - With sirens blaring and emergency lights flashing, an ambulance rushed an injured woman to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS at approximately 9:30 am today, after an apparent botched abortion at Women's Health Care Services, a late-term abortion mill run by the notorious George Tiller. LifeSiteNews.com reported in September that, at taxpayer expense, health authorities in Quebec and other Canadian provinces send Canadian women seeking late-term abortions to the same center.

"They almost caused an accident at the intersection," said witness Brenna Sullenger, who filmed the arrival of the ambulance at Wesley. "They were in a big hurry."

First to arrive at the hospital was Tiller employee Edna Roach, a nurse's assistant who often escorts injured women to the hospital from the mill. She was observed to carry medical files into the Emergency Room in an apparent effort to expedite the intake process.

The ambulance arrived a few moments later. Another witness Cheryl Sullenger noted, "As I pulled into the hospital parking lot, the EMTs were unloading the woman from the ambulance. I drove right past them and they appeared very grim and in a very big rush to get the woman inside. She was covered with a blanket."

Tiller arrived a few minutes later in his armored Jeep, driven by another employee, Sara Phares. Pro-lifers on the scene asked Tiller, "How many more women have to be injured before you stop, George?"

Meanwhile, back at the abortion mill, pro-life witnesses observed one of Tiller's security guards expelling a Kansas City News reporter from the abortuary’s parking lot in an effort to institute a media blackout of the story.

"We are here to uncover and report the truth: Babies are dying and women are being maimed. As we near the 32nd memorial of Roe v. Wade, we must ask ourselves how much more human tragedy must we endure before we will take action to stop abortion now,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman.

Why the drop after 1960? (in deaths of women from illegal abortions)

The reasons were new and better antibiotics, better surgery and the establishment of intensive care units in hospitals. This was in the face of a rising population. Between 1967 and 1970 sixteen states legalized abortion. In most it was limited, only for rape, incest and severe fetal handicap (life of mother was legal in all states). There were two big exceptions — California in 1967, and New York in 1970 allowed abortion on demand. Now look at the chart carefully.

So how many women’s lives have been saved by abortion?

Only about 3% of abortions since 1972 were reported to be “due to a risk to maternal health.” A reasonable person would recognize that not all of those cases represent a lethal risk. But let’s say they did. That means that nearly 45 million fetuses were butchered to save the lives of about 1.3 million women. Or put another way; 35 babies are killed to save each woman.

Abortion was legal in all 50 states prior to Roe v. Wade in cases of danger to the life of the woman.

ARE THE BABIES ALIVE DURING THE ABORTION?

Yes! On July 11, 1995, American Medical News (AMA’s official journal) submitted the transcript of a tape-recorded interview with abortionist Dr. Martin Haskell to the House Judiciary Committee in which he admitted: “...the majority of fetuses aborted this way (partial birth abortion) are alive until the end of the procedure.”

IS THIS TYPE OF ABORTION RARE?

When this type of procedure first became public knowledge, those defending it said it was only done a few hundred times a year. Then Ron Fitzsimmons, the executive director of the National Coalition of Abortion Providers admitted on ABC’s “Nightline” (11/95) that he had lied when he asserted the procedure was used rarely and only on women whose lives were in danger. The reality is, this gruesome method of killing partially born babies is done many thousands of times a year. Abortionist, Dr. McMahon, admitted in 1995 to performing over 2000 partial birth abortions.

ARE THEY PERFORMED ONLY ON SEVERELY DEFORMED BABIES?

That is what the abortion industry would like you to believe. But Dr. Haskell said in a tape recorded interview with the AMA’s American Medical News: “...and I’ll be quite frank: most of my abortions are elective (not medically necessary) in that 20-24 week range ... In my particular case, probably 20% are for genetic reasons. And the other 80% are purely elective.” An article in the L.A. Times (8/28/96) listed some of the medical reasons for this type of abortion. They included cleft palates, cystic hygroma, (both easily corrected problems) and cystic fibrosis. The medical conditions present in the mother that warranted this type of abortion were, “depression, chicken pox, diabetes, vomiting ...” In other words, even those partial birth abortions that are done for the “health of the mother” or because of a “defective fetus” are often performed for minor, easily correctable conditions. Dr. C. Everett Coop, former U.S. Surgeon General, stated, “... in no way can I twist my mind to see that the late-term abortion as described is a medical necessity for the mother. It certainly can’t be a necessity for the baby.”

IS THIS TYPE OF ABORTION EVER DONE ON THIRD TRIMESTER BABIES?

Yes. While most babies are in their 20th to 24th week when aborted in this manner, babies are aborted as late as the ninth month! This was admitted to by abortionist Dr. McMahon who, in 1995, submitted to the House Judiciary Constitution Subcommittee a graph and explanation that showed he aborted healthy babies even in the third trimester!

As disturbing as this sounds, these are the facts. In this country medical doctors are partially delivering babies and then killing them. These babies are inches from being born. Many could be born and placed directly in the loving arms of childless couples for adoption. Instead, they are cruelly killed. Some call this abortion. No matter what you call it, you cannot alter the reality - 4 more inches out of the womb and this act would be called murder.

Do some research on the Born Alive Infant Protection Act of 2000 (HR 4292). This was in reaction to an Illinois law that allowed Live Birth Abortions at Christ (UCC run) Hospital in Oak Lawn, IL. The state law was sponsored by then State Senator Barak Obama.

I once came across the web site of an abortion clinic that also offers 'chaplaincy' services. At that clinic, the woman was encouraged to spend some time with her soon to be aborted fetus and baptize her belly or some other odd ritual. It just sent shivers down my spine.

Newman keeps close tabs on Tiller's clinic and was shocked that Canada would entrust its citizens to "Tiller the Killer" for care. Newman noted that Tiller "has been dubbed 'Tiller the Killer' not only for his abortion business, but also for the frequency with which women are sent to hospital by ambulance after receiving his abortion services."

As we saw during the Partial Birth Abortion Ban fight, even a good doctor can kill or sterilize you during a late-term abortion, and abortionists are not good doctors.

Wichita, Nov. 02, 2004 (CNA) - Operation Rescue, a leading pro-life Christian organization, conducted a peaceful outreach outside the public funeral service for an abortion centre “chaplain” Sunday.

George Gardner worked at George Tiller's late-term abortion centre, Women's Health Care Services. He baptized the remains of aborted children and falsely encouraged women that God somehow favored their abortions, said Operation Rescue.

The outreach also included a memorial to the pre-born babies that were aborted during his employment at the centre. Operation Rescue displayed an infant-sized casket, with a banner that read "Gardner's Legacy: The Human Tragedy of Aborted Babies. Who mourns for them?" Other demonstrators held signs, with verses from Scripture.

Demonstrators offered salvation tracts to funeral attendees, who included late-term abortionist George Tiller and his wife, Jeanne. A salvation tract was also handed to Candy Kruger, who escorts women into the abortion centre. Kruger threw her lit cigarette at one of the demonstrators, hitting her.

Some people thanked the members of Operation Rescue for their presence while a few expressed disapproval.
