What the heck is "depth psychology"? Sounds like a made-up degree--perhaps off the internet?
I was wondering the same thing. Great minds and all that...
Lets shove this depth psychology and psychologist farther down the food chain. Bacteria should be a good place to start.
I believe it involves gerbils, fists, and other assorted things where the sun doesn't shine. The psychology part is when the cranium is inserted in said portion of the anatomy.
I think it's an obscure branch of proctology.
Its one of those degrees that the education industry denizens dream up and award each other to avoid having to actually do real work or research.

Read through it. It's pretty funny. I know someone that is really in to the "Freudian, Jungian, phenomenological, and archetypal theory" stuff. And has a degree in psychology. One of the funnier things they have done is get together with like minded people where they all sit under a glass pyramid in someones back yard and things "come to them".
This person also goes to psychics and Tarot card readers. It's pretty amazing that someone with several college degrees does this kind of stuff and really believes in it. But has never wondered why after listening to someone predict their future for the past 20 years why none of the stuff predicted ever came true.
What's really amusing is how many obviously mentally unbalanced people get themselves educated in psychology or something like "depth psychology" then set out to tell everyone else what's wrong with them.

BS! If homosexuality was equivalent to heterosexuality it would be self-validating. It would not require the blessings of church and/or state to make them feel better.
It is a miserable condition indeed that requires constant reassurance that it is OK to be gay.
"Depth Psychology" sounds like a way to combine majors in folklore and psychology into one handy-dandy degree. Sort of the Jung and the Restless.
OTOH, if I could communicate back to my high school self, I would tell myself to double-major in folklore and marketing in college.... Maybe I'd call myself a "Depth Marketer," if that didn't sound like someone who sold scuba equipment.

If we start with the basic descriptions of degrees:
B.S. -> Bull Sh!t
M.S. -> More Sh!t
Ph.D. -> Pile it Higher & Deeper
Then a Ph.D. in Depth Psychology must spend a lot of time at the bottom of a deep pile of sh!t.
Perhaps the field has something to do with the "Deep Thoughts by Jack Handy" segments on SNL...
Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean ? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.
I think it focuses on brainwashing others into believing that they are victims of atrocious childhood abuse that they don't remember....( I am making this up, but it sounds good)
