ROFL
Thank you! That's how out of touch I am with MSM! If you hadn't said that I'd be on NBC wondering why I didn't see the spot!

IMO the articles about this would be more accurate to say Christians Evangelizing at Gay Event, they went there to witness. The ones who were seen on the video quoting scripture are the ones who still face charges.

Do we have a master thread for this topic?

Do you think if we posted a Freeper Call To Action thread with email/phone contact to complain about the charges that it would stay in Breaking?

I have no idea where this thread is located right now.

If you check out the links I posted to you earlier in the thread there were gay lawyers who work at US DOJ attending the event who talked to police about arresting the Christians. This whole think stinks!

I remember that slogan but can't word it right now either. I do recall one article I read about this said the city actually gave Outfest some money for the event.

I'm praying all will be exonerated but the DA is pushing it. The spokesperson said the DA's office did 'not' see this as a 'free speech issue'. I think we need to do some heavy freeping to help these folks!

Michael Smerconish, a normally conservative talk radio personality here in the New Jersey / Philadelphia has been attacking Repent America and the Philadelphia 5. He had them on last week and told them they were "spinners of the news" who disobeyed the police and basically got what they deserved.

Today, a Christian activist caller was on his show and Smerconish tried to get the man to say he agreed with his position that the Philly 5 were "asking for it." The Christian declined to do so.

Smerconish is pretty reliable conservative, but on this case he seems to have it out for the Christians. He said on his show last Friday that he has a professional and personal relationship with the Philly DA, prosecutor in the case, and the judge. All I can think of is that he is letting that bias his opinion.

Hodar,
They were charged with "ethnic intimidation", as if they were spouting the n-word at an NAACP meeting, whicb they weren't. The biblical objections to homosexuality are a staple of our civilization and have been for 2,000 years. Suddenly, prosecutors call them "hate speech" and a whole new form of Inquisition begins.

They were also charged with "possession of an instrument of crime." The instrument? A small electric bullhorn. The proper charge if they were conducting an illegal protest, which they weren't, would have been the misdemeanor "noise pollution." Instead, a felony.

Altogether the charges, if made to stick, could total 47 years in prison, for reading the Bible at a homosexual "celebration" held on the main intersection of South Philadelphia, a heavily Catholic area.

In the entire history of slavery and Jim Crow in the U.S., was anyone ever charged with 47 years in prison for saying the n-word, using bullhorns, using firehoses and dogs to intimidate African-Americans?

No.

Let's also compare what blacks suffered: Their jobs, if they had any, were paid demonstrably less than comparable jobs held by whites. They had to go to separate schools that were terribly underequipped. They had to sit separately in theaters and were denied entrance entirely to restaurants and hotels. They had to ride in the back of the bus, and to stand in the aisle if a white person indicated that they wanted even those seats in the back. They were routinely called insulting names and made fun of, and had no access to justice. And that's just the tip of the iceberg of how they were treated.

Gays and lesbians have not suffered those conditions to any comparable degree. Their average income is substantially higher than the average income of African-Americans. Homosexuals are completely integrated in society unless they wish to draw attention to their sexual proclivities, and even then, most people are tolerant except when it comes to their children.

Most heterosexuals do not want seductive behavior of any kind by any type of person exhibited in front of their children. Homosexual behaviors in public "celebrations" tend to emphasize -- you guessed it -- sexuality. That's because their choices in sexual behaviors and their culture of promiscuity are their only difference.

There is simply no comparison to the suffering of racial minorities. The gay agenda's entire juggernaut riding the back of the Civil Rights movement is a slap in the face of African-Americans.

" The police typically aren't known to be overtly 'Gay friendly', tolerant, yes; friendly no."

The Philadelphia Police have appointed special officers for many sub-cultures in Philadelphia, including Chinese-speaking officers for Chinatown, etc. Other news reports of the incident mention that the police officer assigned to the "gay community" was on the scene of the arrest.

Sounds like he is biased. I have watched the video more than once. I can't believe that this is going on!

Hodar, I am not crazy about this kind of protesting myself and have said so. However, the charges brought against these people are ludicrous. I suggest you read up on the case. Also, read up on the Don Adams case. The same DA, Lynn Abraham, arrested Mr. Adams on a bunch of phony charges after he was the VICTIM of a brutal beating by Teamster thugs during Bill Clinton's visit to Philadelphia at the height of impeachment season.

Lynne Abraham has also unfairly gone after pro-lifers. She is a Liberal Democrat who has a terrible bias against conservatives and has abused the power of her office to go after them.

Well, Smerconish is biased against them. As I said, he is normally very conservative on issues, and supported GW in the Presidential campaign.

When it comes to issues of homosexuality, however, he suddenly turns far left.

On Monday, he was vehemently attacking a court case that allowed the blocking of adoption of children by homosexual "couples." He insisted children raised by homosexuals was a wonderful thing, and raised his voice at the callers that disagreed. When one man called to say it homosexuality was against God's law, Smerconish blew a gasket.

He challenged the man saying "No! We can't even agree on which god says this!" The man shot back: "Yes we can, that God is Jesus Christ." Smerconish said he worshiped the same god, but the caller didn't know what he was talking about.

To have the most dominant radio personality in the morning Philly market so stridently against the Christians in this case is hurting their case terribly. Most people are not getting the full story, and Smerconish himself never even watched the video of their arrest.

Smerconish is hardly a conservative. He has supported Arlen Spector all his adult life. He is more of a self-promoter and political opportunist than anything.

Ah yes--I forgot about "Arlene the Squash Fanatic." The only thing more important to Spector than his daily squash game is his zeal to ensure abortion blood flows freely.

And Christians are above the law? A little hint, it's hard to feel sorry for self-righteous people who take it upon themselves to violate the law. These people were arrested FOR A REASON. Somehow, this escaped your post, I wonder why you failed to mention this little fact?

Here are your reasons Hoda.
