You know, just the other day, I was speaking to a holy man who talks regualarly with God, and he told me that after all this time, many, many other holy persons have come to the reality that the death penalty does have a deterent effect. It seems that many people do not kill other people because they fear the possiblity of being executed as a result. This seems logical and the reverse, does not.
Roger that!
Sorry, sister, it's already been decided.
"The death penalty is not unconstitutional..."
Also not unbiblical:
4 The government is God's servant working for your good. But if you do what is wrong, you should be afraid. The government has the right to carry out the death sentence. It is God's servant, an avenger to execute God's anger on anyone who does what is wrong. 5 Therefore, it is necessary for you to obey, not only because you're afraid of God's anger but also because of your own conscience. 6 That is also why you pay your taxes. People in the government are God's servants while they do the work he has given them. Romans 13:4-6 (The Word)
I gotta admit the "The government is God's servant working for my good" part scares me more than the execution part.
