So...this article brings up a number of important points. A couple of the most infuriating hypocrisies of conservatives and Bush in particular are the so-called respect for life (Pro-Life) yet unwavering support of the DEATH penalty and the invocation of God in the support of both. It is completely incongruous. Ever since I first encountered Sister Helen Prejean, I realized it is completely and utterly absurd to call yourself a religious person and support the Death Penalty. To say you believe in the power of forgiveness and turn around and show incalculable vengeance makes no sense. That's point one. The other thing implicit in this article, not having to do with religion is the role of our soon to be Attorney General in Bush's decision making process. Like Cheney, Wolfowitz and Rumsfeld, Gonzales tells Bush what he wants to hear. These 30-minute clemency updates show how the torture memos came to be. Thus, we have a group of people with little to no respect for life (torture, vengeance, war) and nobody in the circle to question this. We already are a culture of death blinded to believe in optimism when every decision we make results in bloodshed, the fact that those who run our country continue to insulate themselves is that much more frightening.

So, how do you resolve the incongruity of supporting the murder of infants while wetting yourself over the death penalty?

Pinko, The Bible records that Jesus specifically spoke out against greed, lust, adultery, hypocrisy, lack of faith, and other sins. Yet even though the death penalty was widely used in his day, he didn't say a word about forbidding it. The Bible forbids the death penalty about the same way the Constitution says you have a right to an abortion---not at all.

So an infant in a womb and a serial killer are the same thing to you? You aren't making moral judgments here, kid, you're avoiding them.

Abortion and capital punishment are two different questions.
Abortion is a question of when a fetus has the same right to life as a newborn baby. Capital punishment is a question of whether certain acts are so heinous as to merit putting to death the person who does them, as well as what level of evidence is necessary to carry out an execution.
More simply put, abortion is a question of legal status; capital punishment is a question of legal consequences.

I'm a conservative and am apposed to the death penalty for criminals in America. There are many others. On the battle field and in war is obviously a totally different story.
So what else do you have.
Can't argue with the culture of death distinction. But I doubt you really care about a million people murdered each year. You'd never work with conservatives to see it stopped. You'd have more fun enabling the leftists and their destructive pursuits.

I realized it is completely and utterly absurd to call yourself a religious person and support the Death Penalty. That is not a "realization"... it's an assertion. And one you have yet to support.
I can quote chapter and verse the justification for my position. What can you cite without inference to support yours?

Abortion is the killing of an innocent child.
Capital punishment is killing of a guilty person.
How can you be for killing an innocent baby and against killing a violent murderer?

Richard Speck who murdered several Catholic nurses had the following in prison: sex, drugs and rock and roll.
Sister Pompous didn't object.

Abortion = killing the innocent (murder)
Death Penalty = killing the guilty (justice)
If you can't see why a God-Fearing person can't be for both, then you haven't read a Bible. Captial punishment and Murder are not the same thing.
