This noob bears watching. His only two posts have all the classic elements of an embed.
So when a passage in the bible appears to support your position, it is OK, but when it does not it is obsolete? ROTFLMAO, you really ARE qualified to be a religious scholar!
You may now return to your regularly scheduled DU chat thread. We hope you enjoyed your stay. And dont let the door hit you in the a** on the way out.
Thanks, Gingersnap, for an insightful response to my question about casting stones. I certainly see where you come from on this. To me, this passage says tells me that I should try to live my life with that same compassion that Christ does. He knows that I try, but Christ also knows that I certainly do fail.
(There's an old Catholic joke that starts out with this story. After Jesus says his "...cast the first stone" thing, a rock comes flying out of the crowd and knocks the woman to the ground. He turns around and says, "Mom! I'm trying to make a point here!")
This is not to say that I don't support punishment for criminals. Obviously, if at the very least for my own safety, I want them locked away for a very long time. I just think that the ultimate punishment should be used by the Ultimate Judge. No jury of men could be that perfect. Christ didn't expressly condemn the law, but He certainly didn't actively support it, either.
I certainly respect your interpretation, though.
But, as always, the vulgarity, vile threats and cheering for Islamic victory over AmeriKKKa always appears. It's like a fingerprint.
I'm sure you'll be gone after that post.
Just because Bush presided over the exectutions of the scumbags doesn't mean that he personally sentenced them to death. Death row doesn't have a 1 month turnaround. It takes years for a loser to make tho the death chamber. If you cared to research it I am sure that you can find that while demoncrat gov. Ann Richards was in office, more people were sentenced to death than the years that Bush was in office. She also didn't save these worthless wastes of my unfairly confiscated tax money. I didn't hear anyone crying about that. But wait, she was a Bush basher, so all the lefties loved her. And for the record, I'm no Bush fan and am not trying to personally defend him but I am less of a fan of the fingerpointing, hypocritical, grandstanding Leftists in this country that condemn everything in this contry except the things that are tearing it apart.
ROTFLMAO!
Very creative!!!!
Troll! Dare to fear... Puss In Boots.
The sripture does support the death penalty in the New Testament.
Romans 13:1-4: Let everyone put himself under the authority of the higher powers, because there is no power which is not of God, and all powers are ordered by God. For which reason everyone who puts himself against the authority puts himself against the order of God: and those who are against it will get punishment for themselves. For rulers are not a cause of fear to the good work but to the evil. If you would have no fear of the authority, do good and you will have praise; For he is the servant of God to you for good. But if you do evil, have fear; for the sword is not in his hand for nothing: he is God's servant, making God's punishment come on the evil-doer.
Do you get that last part? The government...appointed by God...has a sword in his hand to punish the evil-doer.
I am a theologian (Yes..Th.D.)...and that passage is speaking of 1) War and 2) Capital punishment. God gives the government the authority to punish the evil-doer..whether that evil-doer is a country or a person.
Now...if you claim to be wanting to follow the teachings of Jesus on this subject...I suspect you will stop attacking the president...because it is commanded in this scriture and in 1 Peter 2:13-17. I would also suspect you should be as equally disgusted at Abortion or else you are a hypocrite in the opposite direction!
The astounding stupidity of that statement is incredible. Babies are completely helpless and innocent. A murderer chose his path.
Also...the law called for the stoning of all those caught in the act. Where was the man? They did not bring him...only the woman. The scripture, In Romans 13:1-4, clearly states (again...in Romans...THE NEW TESTAMENT)...that the government is set up by God and given the sword to punish evil-doers. Read it yourself and then explain to me how this is not capital punishment.
Glad you enjoyed it. Search by keyword RATEATROLL for others.
