B1's? The Titan II missiles were about to be phased out even in 1976 when I got out. McConnell and Boeing shared huge Runway. B1's? Cool

Congratulations!
I'll never forget the day our bus departed Lackland AFB for Sheppard AFB, Wichita Falls, Texas, and tech school (672xx Military Pay Clerk). November 1984. Because I had three years of JROTC, I got to skip out of BMTS after three weeks(!) and got to sew on two stripes. They called it Proficiency Advancement (PA). Of course, if you messed up ONCE, your TI would cancel your PA status and you stayed for the entire six weeks.
At BMTS, I got a marksmanship ribbon, with a little help from the airman on my left. The range master told me, "You have more than 40 holes in your target, but since I can't tell which ones are yours, you get credit for them all. It takes 360 to get a ribbon and you got a 362. Congratulations." :-)
After tech school, I went to Mather AFB, Sacramento, California, (nice duty) and got out during the 1988 draw down.

I was one of the weapons loader for the B1 Bomber (Lancer) when they were just configured for nukes. I also got to work the A10s and F16s. I love the A10 the best of all. Now I load precious cargo...Wounded Warriors I crossed trained into medic, so when I deploy we move the wounded. I am a girl so I like being a medic better, but I pulled my weight as a weapons troop.

The story goes that one of President Johnson's daughters was dating an A2C. The President is reported as saying " nobody should be a second class anything" so they redid the rank structure.

Great job.
One of my favorite memories of basic was the bus ride out. A bus full of people and our permanent party escort told us, "you're in the Air Force now and basic is over, relax." None of us believed him thinking that they would somehow sneak in one last shot at us. It didn't happen but many of us still kept an eye out until we got to Lowry.

Bump! I can say that my gratitude is also shared by all; Freepers and/or Lurkers alike. Stay steadfast and prayers out to you!

Makes me remember the wonderful time I had in 1968. I thought my name was "you F***in' maggot" for several months after that.

Same for me with French. As much as I try, I cannot forget it. ;-)

You have a difficult job but it is the most important one in the military. Taking care of the wounded requires a special type person. God Bless you and all our Military Men and Women.
