The Hague - A plot to murder Ayaan Hirsi Ali, the Dutch lawmaker of Somali origin who is a leading critic of radical Islam, has been uncovered in the course of the investigation into the assassination of film-maker Theo van Gogh, the daily De Telegraaf said on Wednesday.

Hirsi Ali co-wrote the script for van Gogh's movie Submission, dealing with the oppression and abuse of women under Islam, that led to his murder on November 2 by a suspected Islamic radical. Under tight police protection, she was reported to be planning a sequel to the movie and writing a book targeted at Muslims.

De Telegraaf said a document was found during a police raid on an apartment in Amersfoort that was searched as part of an anti-terrorism swoop.

It added that the plan was to assassinate Hirsi Ali on New Year's Eve when the sound of shots would have been masked by the noise of fireworks.

Although she herself and her party have said she will soon return to parliament, her whereabouts were not known. Some reports said the Dutch army took her to the United States for her own protection following van Gogh's murder.

The alleged killer, Mohammed Bouyeri, is a Dutch citizen of Moroccan origin.

actually I've read in other articles about her that she is an ex-muslim, which just makes life more dangerous for her :(

It would be beneficiary to the world if we all agree that radical Islam is equivalent to the mafia at its worst. However, many liberal politicians like to think that Islam is a respectable religion, and the radical Muslims are an " exception". The reality is the radical Muslims are the GOOD MUSLIMS who are following their mosques teaching. The bad Muslims, the once who never go to the mosque or fast, the ones who drink, and never cover their heads are the tolerant type.

Hey world, if you disagree with these people, they will kill you. Of course they will behead you with lots of love and understanding.
I learned a lot about Islam on 9/11, and I'm still learning about the "Loving Muslims," with each and every incident. Does it get any better, or is it all just more intolerance and death to anyone who does not buy into the domination and violence these zealots preach as the only truth? Islam looks like it has horns, a tail, and is holding a pitchfork from our point of view.

Here's a different perspective...

How can we blame Muslims when they honestly believe god (well, moon god) not only approves of, but even encourages, the murder of infidels and blasphemers and apostates, etc.?

It is Islam that must be banned and outlawed...in fact, Islam must be destroyed and its prisoners must be set free.

Those strict adherents who are unwilling to let go of it must be isolated (interned), clerics must be defrocked (or the eastern equivalent).

Islam preaches murder and abuse and misogyny. If we appease it, we are the guilty ones because we know it is wrong. Don't blame the Muslims. They don't know any better. We Christians and Jews...we know better.

Islam must die. We must kill it. For our sake, for the sake of Muslims, and for the sake of the world.
