I was just saying that's what they might be thinking. I don't know for sure, because, though I consider myself a liberal, I don't hold with that position. I was just trying to figure out how gun control became associated with liberalism at all. I don't know anything about the history of gun control in America, maybe I'll go read up on it and post it someday.

It sounds like you could be arguing from a classical liberalism school of thought as opposed to this post-modern, relativistic liberal school of thought.

Classic liberalism though, I would suspect has roots pre-FDR. Classical liberalism does not espouse pro gun-control views.

"I was just trying to figure out how gun control became associated with liberalism at all."

It's because what has become known as "liberalism" in America is really fascism in drag. Those we call "liberal" absolutely worship power, especially when it is vested in a dictator.

They worship Castro, because he seized power.

They crave positions of power in Government and don't care how silly they look trying to acquire it. (John Kerry?)

And they want the government to have ever more power, after they control government.

"Liberalism," today, is about as far from the dictionary definition as it is possible to get.
