I was raised in Tennessee and I only ever knew of two guys who SAID they were KKK. I don't know what everyone nowadays gets their drawers in a wad about, there are probably only a thousand or so Klansmen in the entire country. They're a joke. If you had met the two I met you'd know it was a joke. Of course it's extremely useful to have such a bogeyman on call when you need him.
