I know a guy who appeared before the mayor of the town sitting as a magistrate about a seat belt ticket. Talk about your conflict of interest, eh?
Thankfully, Mayor Eddie Long of Smithers, WV was not too long after that snagged by the FBI following a lengthy covert investigation, and sent to jail for a good couple of years on mail fraud charges because he was instructing police officers not to show up for DUI cases involving his friends and political donors.
You could always appeal, unless the deadline has passed.
The difference between us, as indicated by your comment, is that you have faith in the system overall, believing that there are a few bad judges but most are just, while I have no faith in the system because most judges I've seen are not just, and therefore I belive that the rare judge is the honest judge, and now have no faith whatsoever in the system...
