Because Mel Gibson has not announced he "....doesn't recognize the pope" (your words), I have no need to withdraw my question to you. While you have judged him a so, doesn't make it so. Until then, my Post # 9 requires no apology.
Your generous source contributions to this thread are absent any declaration from Gibson to support your contention. It should not be necessary to remind you that it was Mel Gibson who sought and received Vatican acknowledgement of his film. Certainly, this act in itself belies any contrary suggestion about his submission to the Holy See.

Then give me some sources that state to the contrary. Give me some sources that DISPROVE that Mel Gibson is a Sedevengelist.
Gibson does not recognize the pope religiously.
My GOD, THE FACTS ARE ALL THERE! IN THE SOURCES I GAVE YOU!
Here are some of the facts JUST SOME- Gibson has Described the pope as "A Wolf in Sheep's clothing" PRE PASSION. Mel Gibson has also Described himself as a "Traditional Catholic" Traditional Catholic: a NICE term for Sedevangism.
I can only speculate that Mel Gibson's meeting with the pope most probably had to do with seeking public approval for THE PASSION.
It would be appropriate OF YOU to formally withdraw your uninformed comment.
'I'm sorry' isn't in the lexicon of most FReepers.
( It is for the polite ones ) You know what, Just don't respond. If you do I'll take two hours and write you an ESSAY complete in MLA style explaining WHY Mel Gibson is a Sedevanglist. Or you could say that your are sorry.....
