The liberals scored the first touchdown and now they want to run out the clock.
The real story to watch is the churches that are leaving with their property. If that takes hold legally, you will see a mass exodus.
So to speak.
The bishop here has already snatched one property from its orthodox congregation, leaving the priest with an empty building and no website (he is near retirement and was threatened with loss of his pension.) He has threatened another orthodox congregation which has a smaller, old building on what has become very valuable land -- basically told 'em to toe the line or get out, he keeps the now multi-million-dollar land. Other parishes see this, and tremble for their endowments and their stained glass windows and the cemeteries where their families are buried . . .
The previous bishop had always stated that any parish that was unhappy with his leadership was welcome to leave and take their property along (note the mildness of the dove with the wisdom of the serpent -- nobody ever left under his tenure.) The new guy is a screaming leftist with an ultra-hardball agenda -- if you're not a cheerleader for "gay" marriage and priests, you're an ignorant redneck, a hater, a homophobe, and not really a Christian, and he'll grind you into the dirt.
