WASHINGTON Americans responded almost immediately to early reports that wounded U.S. soldiers in Germany needed clothing, but now the facility as well as the Army hospital in Washington, D.C., are urging donors to hold off for a while.
It seems like every city had a clothes drive for our soldiers, said Marie Shaw, public affairs officer at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (search) in Germany, which has tended to more than 18,000 servicemen and women wounded in Iraq since the beginning of operations there in March 2003. "We received tons of things over the holidays we now have a warehouse for it," she told FOXNews.com, noting that the Army chaplain in charge of distributing the aid at the hospital is urging donors to delay giving until Spring, when new needs arise.

It is not just the generosity of Americans, but we as Americans are blessed because we have so much to give.
Amen
I think the saying goes " To whom much is given, much is expected" and America's cup truly does runneth over.
God Bless our Brave Troops, and God Bless America.
This is really great news. These guys shouldn't have to pay for anything. There should be a fund to cover the various and sundry "chickenshit" expenses sometimes levied by government/military bean counters. A couple weeks back there was a report about one wounded vet being required to pay for a kevlar helmet lost in combat. Seem to recall the price was something like $500. Outrageous that these things go on.
Bump for later!
During peacetime, soldiers were selling Kevlar helmets. That's why there is a price for them. The government moveth slowly.
Appy...whether it's peacetime or war time, the grunts do a heck of a job for the country for precious little in return. I'd be inclined to let them sell their kevlar helmets if they can get a price for them. In fact I wouldn't mind pickin up a used M16 or two if I could find a grunt with a spare one.
