I agree. Denominations are only relevant when more than one branch of the Church springs up. Jesus created one Church to be governed by Peter and the apostles. The Catholic Church is that church. There is nothing in the Bible that teaches this.
It is obvious, the ROCK Jesus spoke of is HIMSELF, not Peter.
There have been too many threads on this,.

There have been too many threads on this,.There have been alot of threads on this subject and the Catholics and the Anti-Catholics continue to disagree. It is not obvious that the rock Jesus was speaking of was himself. In fact Jesus refers to Peter, "you", seven times in about 5 lines. And yet according to you, he stopped in midstream and said "you, you ,you, me, you, you, you." We can go round and round on this one but we apparently will never agree.

Mat 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. 18 And I say also unto thee, THAT THOU ART PETER, AND UPON THIS ROCK I WILL BUILD MY CHURCH; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. 20 Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ. That is pretty clear especially since he changed Simon's name to "Rock". Now I am open to listen to why that is not true - really. What does that verse mean?
