I was pretty active on those threads during the first 24 hours. What is obvious to one person isn't obvious to another person who lacks direct experience with the kind of document involved.
I argued with Buckhead and others during that 24 hours and advised caution. That was because I edited a small magazine in the early 1970s that was typeset with an IBM Composer. I had direct knowledge that proportional fonts were available. It was pretty clear to everyone that a Composer was not an office typewriter, but it still required font experts to nail the coffin.
That's because Bankhead was the instigator who provided the documents to CBS as a way to undermine their prestige and repuation... < /end DU conspiracy>
Smart advice. Too bad CBS didn't have the same attitude.
