A few days ago I misjudged what appeared to be an inch deep flooded section of sidewalk and it was up to my ankles.

On the news, there was mention of a 10 year old boy who was knocked off his feet in only a few inches deep and fast moving water.

Yesterday a 30 year old man driving his SUV slid off Topanga Canyon Blvd. The SUV flipped over and landed in a creek only five feet deep. A witness to the accident phoned LA County Fire Dept. and Swift Water Rescue arrived within minutes. The man drowned.

I drove over the L.A. River yesterday and peered in ... it looked like a raging muddy tsunami. Dangerous! Just a trickle most of the year ... but watch out when it pours!
