The tip of the iceberg.

The most miniscule tip of the tip. It looks to me like Volcker is revealing some insignificant discrepencies and errors in order to distract from the real corruption.

This is small stuff. The Iraqis have documentation that will verify that billions have been stolen. If Volker comes up empty handed, the Iraqis will turn their documents over. Talk about an embarrassment for the UN.

Looks like Volker is being paid to whitewash everything.

"program revealed lapses in U.N. oversight"

When I once let my car insurance lapse they refused me the new policy. No accidents or 23 billion dollars laundered.

The Whole story is spin.

"revealed lapses in U.N. oversight"

BS! If it does not reveal internal corruption that goes to the top...it is a whitewash.

And isn't it magnanimous of the UN to just take the lead, figure this all out on its own, and make it public? That's our Kofi!

I really hate the tone of this article which sounds like nobody ever heard of Oil-For-Food before and now the UN is letting us all know about it because they are such good folks.

"great level of oversight by the U.N.," spokesman Stephane Dujarric said Saturday.
UN oversight =
"5 for me ...and 3 for you,"

instead of the usual

"3 for me... and 3 for you."

This is such miniscule stuff it wouldn't even make the leftists yell if a CEO did it.

There had better not be a cover up of those billions of dollars that amounts to the biggest financial scandal of my lifetime.

I can find an FR thread where a UN security guard shot himself in the head at his desk about 18 months ago.

It's always bothered me.
