I've noticed a lack of Thanks to Viet Nam Vets
from the rank and file GOP.

Guess they don't want to admit we were a major force in winning the election.

Too bad registered only Republicans who gave money and/or donated time
received letters of Thanks.

BUT the Independents who donated time and money
to defeat Hanoi Kerry didn't receive any Thanks.

The GOP rank and file could have least posted
a Thank You thread to Viet Nam Vets.

We know they come here daily.

Oh well, they know we will always stand up for America.

And despite the lack of acknowledgment we'll always do what is best for America.

Whether the rank and file thank you or not, I do, for saving this country from the likes of JK so that I can raise my kids in a better place. HUGS!

Tonk,

I've always thanked vets who have served before me. The problem I see with our established politicians and the MSM is that they are now afraid of grass roots organizations. If they admit that we have an effect on politics as a whole, more people will rely on us for information thus changing the political landscape.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

P.S. Thanks

Linking the SwiftBoat Vets with Republicans would have destroyed their credibility and brought on charges of collusion..
I am a rank and file Republican and I have been on many threads thanking the Swiftboat Vets...and thanking all the Vietnam vets who worked to expose Kerry..Are you talking about on this forum?

I don't know exactly to whom are you referring to, but I remember seeing at least a few "Thanks to the Vets" threads right after election. I even had in my tagline, something like "Thanks SwiftVets, we couldn't have done it without you". I think there were also a few editorials giving them credit.

I think there should have been even more, but at least there were some.

I'm a registered Independent, I received a hand written signed (machine written) thank you letter, a signed photo of the President and the First Lady, a signed Christmas card and a RNC calender filled with pictures of the first family.

Good morning, Tonk!

My thanks to you and to the SBV and to the vets of Winter Soldier and the POWs who hammered Kerry at the end. My thanks is a glad heart that Kerry was defeated nationally. I'd like to think GWs 3 million popular vote win came from VN vets and kin.

We've unfinished business, Tonk. Battleground is now Massachusetts. No tea party this time!

"Linking the SwiftBoat Vets with Republicans would have destroyed their credibility and brought on charges of collusion."

I think MEG33 is right.  The left would use anything
they could find against the SwiftBoat Vets and the Bush Administration.  They certainly pulled some stunts during the campaign and there's nothing to stop them after it.  A letter or memo of thanks from an official source for SwiftBoat Vet activities obtained by the MSM is all they'd need.  Heck...... they don't even need a real one.

Google links to "impeach Bush" sites

The SwiftBoat Vets and Vietnam (and other) Vets were instrumental in exposing Kerry and deserve a huge THANK YOU.  No direct acknowledgement is disappointing, but maybe this part of the inauguration is a subtle way of saying it.

Full-scale inaugural set for Bush despite war - Up to $40 million to be spent on events that will also honor troops

~snip~

In January, as war continues in Iraq and Afghanistan, Bush’s second inauguration will heavily emphasize the sacrifices by U.S. forces with the theme, "Celebrating Freedom, Honoring Service." But the festivities will rival those held during peacetime.

~snip~

A commander in chief’s ball is a first, with some 2,000 free tickets to be given to service members who have returned from Iraq and Afghanistan and their families. The Defense Department will distribute the tickets.

While I was looking at the inauguration site found this interesting link to inaugural ball history.  Grant's parties take the prize, IMO.

The last battle of the Vietnam War was fought on November 2nd, 2004

I would argue that the last battle is being fought right now, right here. The last battle is to prevent the liberal scum doing to the brave soldiers, marines, sailors, and airmen in Iraq, what they did to the brave men in Vietnam.

And, it is clear that the libs and MSM are trying. The most egregious attempt was the attack on the young Marine in Fallujah who shot the Iraqi faking death.

And we all know, there have been many others.

But this time, the MSM and liberal trash are being countered.

That is the main battle you are fighting, Tonk, along with other good men and women.

It is not going to happen again. Not this time.

BTW, EXCELLENT article. What riled me is that Kerry is meeting with the President of SYRIA and OTHERS who have done their best to destroy us. It took me back to when we served and a Lt. Kerry I remember all too well! His infamous testimony and LIES against our troops, and his infamous trip to Vietnam while our brothers and sisters were dying. I don't think either of us will ever get over it, not while we exist on this earth.
