Ah yes. My first childhood sweetheart. That will always be one of the sweetest planes around. Although these F/A 22 pix are pretty sexy too. Gotta hand it to the guys that fly them.

P-38 was great but it was like driving a milk truck compared to the Spitfire.

The P38 had a problem with high altitude in cold climates which is why it wasn't used much in Germany. Carburator froze. Fact. Look it up. That said, it was a great plane against the Japanese in WWII, but a little slow for today I would think.

P-38s - there is still at least one flying. It's got a web site somewhere (I don't recall where). It was dug out of the Greenland icecap and restored a few years back.
