Ukrainian presidential candidate, who won the elections, Viktor Yushchenko has promised to nominate a new Prime Minister in a couple of days. This time is necessary to make a decision on other Cabinet members and before the middle of February Yushchenko is to decide on regional governors.

Under the Ukrainian laws, the president nominates the prime minister and the Supreme Rada should vote on the candidate. A number of politicians are expected to be nominated, former Deputy Prime Minister Yuliya Timoshenko, former Prime Minister Anatoly Kinakh, head of the budget committee of the parliament Pyotr Poroshenko, socialist leader Alexander Moroz and acting Prime Minister Nikolay Azarov among them. Earlier Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma accepted the resignation of Viktor Yanukovich as the Prime Minister.

Acting Prime Minister Nikolay Azarov refused to confirm the information about his holding talks on joining the new Cabinet. As Azarov announced after a government meeting yesterday, he has held no negotiations on getting such a position. At the same time he stressed that he had good relations with the winner of the presidential race, Viktor Yushchenko. However, certain mass media released the information about Azarov’s assuming the post of the Deputy Prime Minister of the newly formed government.

Experts consider Yuliya Timoshenko, a leader of the Ukrainian opposition movement, as the most likely prime minister candidate. She expressed her certainty that the parliament would support her nomination. “There are certain coalition agreements and if Yushchenko nominates me, this will be enough for the parliament to vote clearly to support me,” Timoshenko said. She consider it prudent that businessmen should not be nominated for government posts, saying that she is no more a businessman thanks to incumbent Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma. (No but she's still wroth $11 Billion, that makes her an oligarch, not a businessman) “Neither my friends, nor I own any companies,” she announced.

The Ukrainian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (out and out Oligarches) believes that its leader Anatoly Kinach should head the government, as the union said in its written address to newly elected President Viktor Yushchenko. Industrialists and entrepreneurs remember Kinach’s contributions to the creation and implementation of economic projects, which spurred the economic recovery, industrial stabilization, the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, enhanced the security of business and protection of rights of investors and owners, the released statement said.
