Winchester continues its reputation as a wedding mecca in Virginia.
Linda Tripp, who caught the nation's attention during the Monica Lewinsky episode of President Clintons second term, came to the Winchester Circuit Clerks office to obtain a marriage license Dec. 30.
I asked her if she was THE Linda Tripp and she said yes, reported Will Gardner, deputy clerk of the court.
I was curious about how many people could have that name, Gardner said. He didnt recognize her physically but did remember the name when he was typing up the license.
Gardner said she seemed a little anxious once he asked about her identity.
Both bride and groom, Dieter Hermann, were cordial to the staff at the clerks office and wished them a happy holiday before trekking across the street to the Valley Wedding Chapel at 201 E. Boscawen St.
Gary Patterson,co-owner of the chapel for 10 years with his wife, Sherry, did not recognize her nor the name. When he took the license to the clerks office, they told him who she was.
When they brought it my attention, I thought Wow.
She looked familiar to Patterson but he couldnt figure out where he had seen her before.
The couple really wanted to get married and said they were in love, Patterson added.
They came walking up when I was putting the closed sign on the door and asked if they were too late, Patterson said.
They purchased the stripped-down model, $30 wedding, that takes about three minutes, Patterson said. There were no pictures and no one else came with them.
The couple said they will have a religious ceremony later in the year.
Sherry Patterson also didnt recognize Tripp or even the name. I write so many names that hers didnt click.
Sherry is planning an all out campaign to get celebrities to come to the chapel to be married. With the services available here for private planes, she feels it would be a great location for those wanting a quick marriage.
Were contacting a publicist in Beverly Hills to sell the idea of coming to Winchester to be married, Sherry said.
OMG. You are WAY too funny.
"Think what could have happened if Clinton hadn't been exposed."
Double entendre!
hmmm...
In your post #60 you say that you were in the states.....
...no...quite the contrary....Monica wanted Linda to lie to the grand jury....big difference
My bad.
I would have been in the summer but was relatively young and not interested in the news at the time.
As I said earlier there were only two things I knew about the whole thing:
1) That Clinton was a dirty old man with no taste in ladies
2) That Linda Tripp was bad somehow
At least I got one thing right.
I have not accused the President of killing anyone. I merely stated that I would not be incredibly surprised.

Pure nonsense. You like kittens, yes?
What?
I only found out what MSM stood for last week.
What the heck is the cat about?
Okay; Put yourself in Monica's place just for a moment if you can stand to do so. (I mean the place she found herself in after the fact, when she was in deep danger and doo.)
