Your comment was a sincere response to try and direct the original poster to some factual information. My point was that the motives of anyone refering to a novel as a basis for debate should be suspect.

Jeez guys, give mud a break! His only real mistake so far was to include the name 'Clancy' the post he made way back in the thread.

1. I'm a sub-qualified ex-nuke.

2. Clancy's Submarine is not a novel - it's non-fiction and a not too bad overview of modern submarines and their operation. I thought it was well done, and ought to be required reading before non-submariners spout off on threads like this saying "Off with the captain's head!"

3. By my count it's now 'Couch Potatoes 4 - Know-it-alls 0' for Mudblood

We had a sister ship hit a pinacle and we almost lost her.

Running aground is no laughing matter it's life of death more often then naught. If they were underway submerged or snorkling it could have been very serious. I have not seen any pics..."not that their will be many" but was it bad?

I had a guy on my boat who was on the bonefish. That disel boat that burned and lost 2 crew members and was towed in. He was pretty freaked about it. God Bless everyone on that boat.

Davy Jones will not see them on this day.
