That sounds about right. I did and ICEX back in '92...when we surfaced parts of the towed array fairing were gone and you the dome was actually soft to the touch. We asked the guys in the yard for the ribbed dome boot instead of the regular one.
He didn't think that was nearly as funny as we did.
Thanks for all the good info, and explanations..Just wondering..when an incident like this occurs..what's the procedure for notifications UP the chain of command..to whom, how fast, and how high? Also..can I assume that the dates in all the stories are local time..i.e. on the other side of the IDL, and thus a day "ahead" of us?
