Mainstream media, sensing a challenge from the new media, are increasingly ringing an alarm bell over its alleged unreliability.
Despite Newsweek reporter Evan Thomas' assumption that most media backed Kerry, and that the bias could translate into anywhere from 5-20 million votes, Bush won anyway. One study found media stories favoring Kerry by two-to-one. When the Swift Boat vets with their powerful anti-Kerry message came along, they were for the most part snubbed or dismissed by mainstream media.

So how did Bush win, and what does it mean for the relevance of mainstream media? To put it plainly, most people aren't stupid.
By George, I think this author's got it!

It began with the Jennifer Flowers scandal. The media has resolved not to commit another Gary Hart trashing of a liberal or Democrat. The media checked itself from doing the same to Clinton, and now follows an unwritten policy of selective reporting and restraint when reporting on Democrats, while over-reporting with outrage and indignation anything that harm a Republican or conservative. When there is a source of balanced information, or even conservative bias, one can easily see by comparison how news is distorted to influence opinion.

The MSM is still up to it's dirty tricks.
Attacking Gonzales before the first question was asked by the Senate panel.
Doing the dirty work for the demonrats.
They will decry the new media's attacks on them, but will continue their own attacks on all things republican and truth be told, all things American.

Their goal is to reach the uninformed voter. Use them to sway public opinion. AFter they spew their propaganda they go out and do a poll confirming that their spewing was effective.

Murphy concludes the left-leaning media in both Australia and the U.S. hurt their party of choice. I don't think it's gotten as far as that yet, at least not in the United States. Kerry was a terrible candidate, and yet he came fairly close, all things considered. If the media had been honest and reported all the facts impartially, Kerry would have been trounced.

I just love that sentiment! Even after years of attempted "dumbing down" of Americans by the education establishment many folks continued to learn on their own after their formal education ended, not being satisfied with the inadequate education they got from said education establishment. There simply had to be more out there than what was taught in schools...
The MSM is finding this out too and it is starting to show.

Murphy concludes the left-leaning media in both Australia and the U.S. hurt their party of choice. He says media folks sympathetic to Kerry didn't want to say the obvious--that Kerry was aloof, patrician, incoherent, pandering, and unelectable.
Funny how obvious our left-leaning media is (obvious to most -that is), yet our own media complains loudly that it was the RIGHT MEDIA that clouded the election.

I agree with this 100%. Kerry was aloof, patrician, incoherent, pandering, and unelectable. On the other hand, I agree with a lot of this. http://cjr.org/issues/2005/1/pein-blog.asp

Ok my mistake, sorry
No big deal, but funny as all get out!

One way to target the MSM is keep referring to them as "The OLD Media". If that phrase would become popular enough it might cause more people to consider the source of their view of the world including politics. The MSM does not like being referred to as the OLD media, it speaks volumes.

Using "fake but accurate" as a defense, and then going on to allege any document can be replicated using standard Word is lunacy. The article on that site is a seriously flawed attempt to undermine excellent research and expert analysis, as well as an attempt to dismiss those that post as nothing more than ignorant and partisan. While we are partisan, we are hardly ignorant, and FR is THE site when it comes to on-line experts.
By the way, member since 5 Jan 05. . .might you be a troll?

MSM has a long was to go before they will be trusted again and then with the perverbial grain of salt.
