Commercial success is not the primary criteria for merit awards. If that's your criteria then the two best films of last year were 'Shrek 2' and 'Spiderman 2', both of which made more money then The Passion. The Passion has all the makings of what Hollywood would deem a perfect movie -- its subject is flawed for them and thats all. If this movie had been about something more accepting -- still had the beatiful imagery, subtitles, and blockbuster profits it'd be #1. Its an artists movie.
