Yes, I know muscle helps burn fat faster, just worry not seeing that scale go down because the muscle I'm building will keep it at a certain level and I'll lose heart after a while.

I'm pretty husky, big arms, and shoulders, don't want to be big, want to be slender, so I can dress up like Indiana Jones. Yes, I have the hat and jacket, now I need to slim down so I can buy the pants and shirts :)

Eloiminate foods with any corn or starch additives - especially that poisonous high fructose corn syrup.

That's great. Congratulations:') I've been thru them all and yoyo back between WW and Atkins. I have found that stopping snacking and just cutting back works but only when I get up off my backside. I've done really good this week I've been gone. Haven't been to the horse thread yet. You have a new baby?

actually intensity is the key....long boring treadmill stuff does very little unless you are obese......I only lift 4 days a week in a three body split for only an hour or so each time and 4 cardio days......two are hour long speed walking (i hate running bad for knees) and two days i do interval training.....actually if you overexercise you will lose weight but gain more fat cause of overtraining, high cortisol levels etc.....overtraining is always worse than under training.........

Advertisements for weight loss centers often make it seem that success is guaranteed for anyone who really wants it. They feature smiling, thin, healthy people - results, the advertisements imply, of simply following the program.

A person generally pays a relative small amount of money for diet products and services and they don't get fat.

Contrast that to political ads that promise smaller government the Sun and the Moon only to get elected and increase the leviathan State. Taxpayers pay a lot of money for that abuse masquerading as benefits.

lol.......good luck just remember it takes time, get a good trainer....you have to do some weight work just keep it light with higher reps and don't over train...you don't need to work out everyday and give yourself a fun meal one a week to keep you psychologically from burning out

I'm trying to reach 125 myself, that will be my idle weight, in between what I should way, about 117 to 143 or so.

If it helps, I also have an apple with each meal. They are only 59 calories or so, and I love apples, might just be me, but they make me feel full after a nice meal.

Hope it helps you. Keep a diary of your calories and also the weight you were when you started, and each end of the week, what you weigh as well. I found that very helpful for me, to look back and see how much I have lost.

my dear.......cortislim has very limited use....some green tea and other herbs in it......if you want to block cortisol then train hard, take days off to recuperate and start meditating......that will relieve any stress induced cortisol better than that crap.......that company is being looked into right now

No diet is perfect. There are lots of no-brainers to stay away from:

-- Cake
-- Candy
-- Chips (pretzels are ok in moderation)
-- Beer
-- Juice (partially--try drinking half juice/half water)
-- Bagels
-- And SODA (not even diet)

-- Atkins is right about some things. Steak actually helps me keep the weight off. Eggs in the morning are good too (no bread). I also eat protein bars for lunch (nothing else).

The above has helped keep me (relatively) thin. I have gained no weight for the last ten years.

that is the worst thing you can do cause your body thinks it is in starvation mode and will lower the metabolism and start storing fat actually........very bad....breakfast is a must, the one constant people who keep it off have and eat 4-6 small meals a day to keep metabolism up...people are fat cause of HFCS......high fructose corn syrup which sweetens everything bad, sugar, white floor and trans fatty acids......pure and simple

Any product that talks about losing "meaningless weight" gets my BS detector buzzing.

I avoid the juice completely and stick with fruit. The fiber in the whole fruit allows a slower more controlled release into the bloodstream. I am diabetic and I am controlling it with diet rather then shots or pills.

I love Dr. Atkins, his diet is responsible for bringing so many diabetic friendly products to the market.

Not my kids. They watch TV and play video games, but they also haul and stack wood, feed the dogs and the ducks, fill the birdbaths and clean their rooms, bathroom and vacuum the stairs, rake the leaves, cut the grass, etc.

They get a can of pop when they come home from school and ice cream an hour after supper. They are both healthy and slim with beautiful shiny hair and good teeth and skin.

They do have classmates who are monsters-----in more ways than one.

Sure, this is my "thumbnail" version of Atkins - it works well for the Atkins "Lifetime Maintenance" phase, once the big weight loss is achieved:

1) Don't eat any food containing high fructose corn syrup.

2) Don't eat any food containing trans-fats.

That's it. These two villainous ingredients are what caused the big bulk-up in America over the last twenty years. Of course, sticking rigidly to these rules eliminates about 98% of what you'll find in the middle aisles of the grocery store, so you'll have to cook more. ;)
