Quix,my daughter and s-i-l went through months of supposed marriage counseling/classes before they got married (one had to,or they couldn't be married in that church!)and it was not only boring and an utter waste of time,it was complete piffle! How to keep a check book,taught to a bunch of upper middle to the highest class of mid 20 something to 30 somethings,who all were professionally successful people? And that was the "best" of it. LOL
Neither did it "stop" any of the planned marriages from taking place.
I absolutely refuse,outright,to get into the gutter with you ,re the "wrath of GOD on the USA".The tsunami wasn't GOD's punishment and neither was 9/11.
