My thoughts are different. I thought Bush's appointment of both 41 and 42 to the tsunami team was an act of political genius. It takes the tsunami off the political table and makes both parties responsible for the outcome. Furthermore, from what I heard on Fox this evening, the emphasis is on private rather than government contributions.
I think they should hold a post-election competition, a semi-political telethon, where people can contribute their tsunami dollars as Republicans, Democrats, or whatever. Then we can see who puts their money where their mouth is.

I agree with you. With Clinton, the great Democratic fund raiser, and Bush Sr. with fund raising connections all over the place, this could be taken to the private sector.
