A Denomination's Descent Into Liberal Madness (PCUSA Self-Destructing)

The Christian Underground http://www.christian-underground.com A Denominations Descent into Liberal Madness Jan 1, 2005 Dr. Earl Tilford

The Presbyterian Church USA  (PCUSA) typifies the ravages of liberalism.  The Apostle Paul, writing in Romans 1: 21-27, detailed the results of humans substituting their wisdom for God's perfect wisdom.  "Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals."  The result was perversion: men lusted after men and women lusted after women.

The Presbyterian Church, USA, like most liberals, is confused.  The radicals who dominate its leadership support both homosexual ordination and gay "marriage."  In their confused minds, while it is wrong to execute convicted murderers and rapists, killing an unborn child is a matter of "choice" or worse, "good stewardship of resources."  At the PCUSA's last General Assembly delegates not only overwhelming condemned Israel, they also dubbed the war in Iraq immoral and illegal and upheld the Church's support for abortion, refusing even to speak out against late term abortion. Some PCUSA congregations hold worship services for pagan gods and goddesses from Buddha and Allah to "the Divine Feminine" and the "Great Spirit."  The website of the Witherspoon Society, one of the denomination's radically liberal interest groups, supports gay ordination, homosexual marriage, abortion and encourages military personnel to desert or declare themselves conscientious objectors.

The descent of the PCUSA into apostasy and heresy is the ultimate result of abandoning God's definitive truth for a more comfortable, "people-friendly" relative truth.  To these religious radicals, tolerance of immorality is far more important than righteous obedience to God's law. For them the ultimate sin is being judgmental. The result is the insanity of condemning Israel for protecting itself from suicide bombers who almost exclusively target civilians while praising Hezbollah, as one of their "fact finding" delegations to the Middle East recently did.  The PCUSA is a dying denomination which loses thirty-to-forty thousand members annually.  At this rate, by 2040, the denomination will be extinct.  Many would argue, as this PCUSA elder does, it already has ceased to be a part of the of the body of Christ.

Dr. Tilford is Professor of History at Grove City College. He enjoyed an extensive military career and after retiring from the U.S. Air Force, served as an associate professor of history at Troy State University in Montgomery and professor of military history at the U.S. Air Force Air Command and Staff College. In 1993 he became director of research at the U.S. Army's Strategic Studies Institute in Carlisle, Pa., where he worked on a project that looked at possible future terrorist threats. He has authored three books on the Vietnam War and co-edited a book on Operation Desert Storm. He has lectured throughout the U.S. and abroad on the Vietnam War and, more recently, the future of armed conflict. moderator@christian-underground.com http://www.christian-underground.com/archive/read.php?sid=135 Posted to the CU: 2005-01-03 02:13:42 CST ======================================== We will Pray WHEN we want School - WHERE we want Work - The Street - The Mall - Persecute Us At Your Own Peril! They just rearranged the initials of the old CPUSA a little bit and CPUSA is what i always think of when I hear this outfit referenced on the radio or see it in print.

Clifton Kirkpatrick, stated Clerk of the General Assembly PCUSA is a leftist wing-nut. He's recently spoken out against capitalism and indirectly against the US. He filed an amicus curiae (friend of the court) brief in a lawsuit by an obscure sect in New Mexico that seeks to prevent the United States government from prohibiting the sect from using a hallucinogenic tea in their ceremonies. All in addition to hundreds of overwhelmingly anti-Israeli, pro-Pali position papers coming out of the PCUSA

Lots of Presbyterians are unhappy with the leftist bent that the "leaders" have taken the denomination.

My wife and kids attend a Presbyterian Church.

When the church hit me up for the latest "capital campaign", I told them quite clearly that I don't support folks who think murdering Jews is a good thing.

The way of typical theological liberalism.......they know about God......they do not know Him on a personal level. At the Great White Throne Judgment they will have no excuse and they will be held accountable for all the souls they misled!

Thanks! My daughter loves Firefox and was showing me some sort of easy Google feature that you can use with it.

Unfortunately, I'm set in my ways. LOL

You just knew that once the Catholic Church went awry, the others would not be far behind. I am starting to fear for the well-being of the Scouts as well, having heard strange stuff coming out on the fringes for a while now.

The simple fact is that the libs have folks in these groups now at levels where they can cause internal damage. Watch out for more of them in all the wrong places, because it's coming.

As the MSM ponders aloud why people are heading in the so-called Evangelical direction, I am wondering why there has not been outrage and uprising within the other "Mainstream" denominations. I still think it's coming, though, because the theo-libs are beyond the point where they can hide in the thickets and snipe at the masses. It's all in No Man's Land from here on out, and I solemnly pray that they are brought to a stop before any more "progress" is made.

"Strive to enter through the narrow gate, because many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able.

When once the Master of the house has risen up and shuts the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open for us,' and answering He will say to you, 'I do not know you, where you are from.'

Then you will begin to say, 'We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets.'

But He will say, 'I tell you I do not know you, where you are from. Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.'"

Food for thought

Even within the PCUSA though things vary from church to church. My parents attend quite the decent local service free of the ravages of violent liberalism sometimes seen elsewhere in the denomination.

And the Anglicans are leading the way with the Unitarians fully in front of all.

Yes, it does vary from church to church, but I am mortified that the "decent folk" aren't screaming bloody murder about this. We all know what happens when people are silent in the face of evil.

It is very easy to move from IE to Firefox. It is a much easier transition than moving to Mozilla). Download it, import your bookmarks (Favorites) from IE when the computer asks which browser from which to import, and start using it within minutes. Once you use tabbed browsing, you won't want to go back. It is great for Free Republic. You keep the latest articles list open in one tab, and then open articles in new tabs. Just close the tab when you are through, and go to the next article.

There are some local PCUSA churches which are being infected at a slower rate, but unless they are withholding "per capita" they are funding all of the liberal causes.

Please be cautious because there are many Presbyterian denominations.

This article is specific to the liberal ( and apostate to many of us ) PCUSA

Presbyterian describes the form of church government not the doctrine, I am a Bible Presbyterian, and agree with almost nothing of the PCUSA.

for a definition and list of Presbyterian denominations
