An Israeli invention that provides early warning for earthquakes could enable every homeowner to rest easier. The size of a shoebox and costing $170, the sensor device is the brainchild of Meir Gitlis, who has been inventing things since... well, he was a child.

Too bad the Islamic Countries will forbid the use of a device invented by the JOOS.
I have one that costs 1/2 the price. I sell you a glass and you place on the edge of your counter top. If an earthquake hits, it falls to the floor and shatters. Even if you don't hear it, when you walk out to the kitchen barefooted you will be alerted.

It didn't work. The glass bounced and then rolled between the counter and the waste basket. When I entered the kitchen with bare feet no warning was given. Then, as I stood there scratching my head, the house fell down around me.
DAMMIT... I WANT MY MONEY BACK !!! ;-))
Did you know that sound travels farther underwater?
Did you know that the current generation Indy cars produce so much downforce that they ccould run upside down on an inverted road once they reach a speed of 100+ miles an hour?
I did not know that....I love geek threads too....
I purchased one called Super Speedway. Which was shot as an IMAX film. That's where the "inverted thing" I posted came from. They had some more factoids here.
I've wondered why in some of the accidents the cars tend to "fly". I suppose once the ground force is gone they can really get flying.
See my cousin Vinnie. Make sure you tell him about your problems. Take the glass and a bag of cement. Vinnie will take care of you.
