Spong is a perfect example of why Islam is gaining converts and Episcopalianism, Prebyterianism and Methodism are not.
I am a Methodist, but Spong does not speak for me, and probably does not speak for a majority of these denominations either.

In a few years the Episcopalian, Prebyterian and Methodist churches will sink into irrelevance.
These churches aren't going away... plus there are lots of GOP conservative voters (like myself) in these churches. Just because they're not what the MSM calls "evangelical" doesn't make them irrelevant.

It should be noted, that in the Bible, they hadn't named themselves, but "..were called Christians first in Antioch". Acts 11:26

I'm one of those (paraphrasing Pres. Reagan) that didn't leave the Word, but my church organization left it. I just switched the place of assembly. Any organization willing to compromise God's word has rejected Him. Sad but true.

But I'm going to jump ship. I can't take the blather and nonesense from an organization which is philosophically on record as opposing war for any reason, opposing the death sentence and using its members money to support gun confiscation laws and assist illegal invaders.

What you are saying about the rank and file membership is true. But that's only because they have not yet awakened to the subversive nature of the individuals who head their church, or to their un-American agenda.
