I'm reading a book now about a Navy Chaplain who was assigned to a Marine unit. These guys are amazing! So help me, if I ever catch somebody being rude or impolite to one of them in public around here, I'll whoop the soup out of them and gladly suffer the consequences later.

Every entertaining story.

My son said they had the most fun with Marine X’s package. He said he wasn't sure who we were sending the pack to, but the panties were size 20, and he said one of the guys got on top of the humvee and jumped off with the panties over his head and yelled, "Look at me, I'm an Airborne Ranger!!!!". He said one of the guys attached the panties to an antenna and it blew in the wind like a windsock. He said it entertained them for quite awhile.

Just think, all those whiny prisoners at Abu Ghraib missed out. They could have had fun with panties. But, instead, they and their msm cohorts resorted to whines and moans. They missed out. Oh well.....

Actually, I could really use some help on something similar to this.

I "adopted" a soldier through Operation AC, and thought that I'd send a care package "anonymously." Well, of course, he had my name and address from the shipping label (I was told that without a return address, the package would NOT be delivered).

Anyway, I just started walking though the aisles of the grocery store, and when I found something "interesting" I just picked it up.

I didn't expect to get anything back, but I got a letter from the soldier, introducing himself.

I feel bad about not sending a letter in the package, but to be honest, I feel like my sending the package is so insignificant compare to what he's doing over there. I almost feel that I'm not worthy for him to know I sent the package. I realize (especially now that he sent me the letter) just how much he's sacrificed and how he's putting his life on the line every day... And I just sent him some baby wipes, hot cocoa and gatorade mix,beef jerky, and some other stuff, and he's grateful to me?

What do I say to this soldier?

Thank him for his service and send him another. That's what I do, and I understand your feelings. Seems like so little compared to what they do for us. Maybe someone else has a better idea, but that's what I do.

I adopted one thru Operation AC also and picked out things like you did, nothing special, but things I thought she would like. I got a letter from her a couple of days ago filled with gratitude for what I sent which didn't seem like much. She said cards and letters would be appreciated; I think they want everyday news from back home. It was awkward to write the first letter but just think of them as the next door neighbor kids or your classmates. Because that is who they are.

I participated in the Manhattanville College program of sending gifts to our troops in Iraq. Despite my asking, I was refused the information of whether the troop was male or female.

This made choosing items rather interesting!!!!!

Glad to know the marines have a sense of humor about their packages!

Let him know that he and others who are with him are Heroes in your eyes. They kind of get shy when you tell them Thank You, but I know they appreciate it. I have worked with them in Air Mobility Command as an AF reserve Medic, I have seen them all and helped move them when they are flying in the Aerovac System. Any way they really like it when you say Thanks...as a girl I have a much easier time telling them they are my Heroes......They are so awesome and they don't realize how wonderful they are.
