My wife called saying Congressman Bob Matsui (5th district) died last night. The report said he had pneumonia. Nothing in print yet.

----When's the special election?---- Makes me feel a little callous, but that was my first thought too.
I don't think it even matters, though -- there isn't a single competitive congressional district in the state of California. The Dem legislature made sure of that.

Fox just reported that it was "stem cell disease". Whatever that means. In light of California just passing the Stem Cell Research proposition?
Wonder if he was a catalyst behind that bill. A little ironinc if that were the case.

May God be merciful and lift Bob Matsui up to the Light of His countenance, and may perpetual Light shine upon him.

There was a running background gag in Bloom County about that. Opus would sometimes be seen with a coffee mug that read (in tiny print) "Nixon '92". :)

Oh they'll get to it after a few traffic reports and a weather segment or two.

I am in his district so it will be interesting to see what happens.

Drudge doesn't even have it on his site yet---I tell you, FR will be THE website to go to this year!!!! So, donate---
I know that was a shameless, disrepectful response to his death, I truly feel bad for his family because I get the impression that it was pretty sudden--hadn't heard he was sick.

It sounds like it might be a form of leukemia. Blood cells derive from bone marrow stem cells.
