I think that the only way they'll ever wake up is when-not if-a prominent member of the royal family is eliminated by one of these Koran-thumping lunatics.
Wish I could find the stiry, but a Saudi Royal in the recent past WAS in line for an execution. As I remember the story, a man the royal offended (can't remember the exact charge, but loss of life was involved) pleaded piteously that the royal be spared as he'd finally decided to 'forgive' him. The ruling authorities honored the wish and the royal was spared.
